MARCH 08 REPORTS

MARCH 6TH

A few fronts moving in every 5 days the last few weeks but fishing slows for a day and picks up again. We are expecting a cold front in two days with high winds. We did excellent with Bill and James the last few days. We fly fished the 1st day under 30 mile winds with good fishing for the the 1st hour and then the south wind pushed alot of water in. Yesterday we spin fished and had a incredible day on snook, trout and jacks. We took 20 snook to 32 inchs and lost one over 40 inchs. Today we fly fished again as conditions got better and great move with near 30 snook! ALot of action as they we hooking up every cast. Tommorrow we spin and hopefully the wind will alow for me to get bait. I am hoping this will be the last cold front and allow water temps to stabilize into the 70's.

March 29

Last weekend brought another cold front with high winds and cooler temperature. Water temps in the morning are in the upper 60's moving to the low 70's by afternoon. Fishing has remained good up to the last two days. Tides have not moved 6" and the fish are there but not eating. Wind has helped the slow water. We are still taking around 20 snook but having to move all day. Tides will be excellent by the end of the week again. Redfish were good and snook were excellent. We threw at some big tarpon today and they should show themselves more I would expect in the next few weeks. Water temps need to stay in the 70's. Sharks have shown up in the bays and is a great sign of improving water temps. Bait is moving closer to shore and it should hit the islands very soon. That will drive in alot of jacks and get the snook fired up...
