Alot of rain the last few weeks has moved things around. Fishing in the islands has been good in some areas and poor in others. Alot of fresh water and dirty water has moved in. North the water is much cleaner. Bait has also moved out of the islands. I just finished a 5 day trip with Martin, Bruce, Josh and Rob. We had 2 boats and the fishing was great. Our boat took over 200 snook plus jacks, snapper, grouper and trout. We did fish north as the bait has been good there. The snook fishing has been the best and few reds except for north. Tarpon have moved north and out of the islands. Very few fish in the backcountry and the west winds have made the beaches hard to fish. Reports from Sanibel are fish are on one day and off the next. My friend Capt Steve Murray in Islamorada has been the most consitant of anyone I know with 3-5 hook ups a evening. Alot of sharks have hit the Islands and are a fun big fish to catch. We are hoping for light wind days to hit the beaches for the tarpon as they are out there but unfishable. I would look for the snook fishing to remain excellent through out the summer. Good Fishing... Capt Robert Walczak Select another page || Go to Home Page |
