SEPT 09

Sept 2

Snook season opened yesterday and there are plenty of snook around. We fished today south of Everglades City towards Lostmans river and took over 20 snook on artifical baits. Lots of 23-26 inch fish around the bait pods on the incoming tide. I had Anthony my 10 year old angler on Sunday take a snook over 40" pushing 25lbs! A great fish for 10! Redfish have been fair as we have been taking 3-8 a day from 17-32 inchs. The have been biting better the last few weeks. I expect the reds to get better through out Sept. The tarpon seem to be everywhere but some days they are be cooperative and others not. We were in big groups of tarpon today but they were on small baits and avoided eating the plugs. It was neat to see them blastng through the bait pods! Lots of BIG snapper in the Islands with some near 5 lbs. Great table fair as we have been taking limits everyday. The shark fishing has also been great with the wamer temps. Lots of bull and black tip sharks from 80-150 lbs. Trout have been fair for those fishing them and lots of makeral on the outside as well. Fall is here and get out and enjoy the great fishing...
Good Fishing...
